Takuro Awazu, a corporate governance specialist in Japan, brings extensive experience from leading law firms and service as a METI deputy director. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, LTRI and Tulane, he is active in key international law and IP committees, lectures on international law, and serves as an adviser to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
hello everyone my name is Tako A attorney atro registered in Japan, New York and California. My main p practice areas are international trade ro in Japan also IPO and M&A. I was once seconded to ministry of economy, trade and industry in Japan in responsible for the dispute settlement in WTO and anti-dumping acting on behalf of Japanese government in many anti-dumping related cases such as zeroing against United States. Then I have been assisting many anti-dumping cases in Japan. Japanese investigation authority is very strict and in last
case applies adverse facts available to all the respondents except for my client. Other than anti-dumping I usually assist export control, investment restrictions and custom procedures and other trade issues. Firstly, I’m assisting these areas in the language of English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and of course, Japanese. My client communicates with me in any of these languages based on their preference. secondly, Japan was not but is becoming now a frequent user of trade remedy such as anti-dumping. The number of lawyers who have sufficient experience in trade limit is quite
limited in Japan and I’m now super busy. most of our clients in trade are foreign companies especially steel chemical and other manufacturing companies. Then most of clients in IPO are Japanese issuers foreign issuers and security companies in Japan, United States and also Hong Kong.
firstly I have in fact decided together with my senior colleague to file the panel request to United States in zeroing cases which are very successful to Japan. After receiving request from industry association, I and my boss decided to sue United States persuading other department and ministries and then prepare the panel request. Secondly, I mainly assisted the listing of the Zam Japan Holdings in Hong Kong which was the first IPO of Japanese gaming industry and also the first listing of Japanese common shares in Hong Kong. Then many investors and
security company come to us for IPO project in Hong Kong and the United States including the four successful IPO in NASDAQ and more than 20 successful IPO in Hong Kong. My colleague Mr. Kuribayashi had already joined the global law expert and he recommended to me to join and then I joined and I’m very satisfied with the quality of the global row experts.
