INVITATION TO TENDER FOR NLNG TRAIN 7 TO COMMENCE IN APRIL

The
Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board
(NCDMB), Simbi Wabote, has said the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG)
will issue Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the NLNG Train 7 project in April
2019.

In an interview, he said: “Efforts
of NCDMB in ensuring that other projects come on stream are ongoing… Like NLNG
Train 7, we are working hand in glove with NLNG to see that the invitation to
tender (ITT) is issued within the next two month to the bidders. All these are
projects we have lined up and NCDMB is working hard to see that these projects
come on stream so that all those fabrication yards and capacity we have developed
in-country will be utilised as soon as possible. There is hope and opportunity
in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.”

The
Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) is a joint-venture company established by
the NNPC, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Total and Eni, and is the
largest processing facility for Nigeria’s abundant gas resources. The LNG plant
came on-stream in the third quarter of 1999 and currently has six trains, with
a total production capacity of 22 metric tonnes of LNG per annum. The seventh
train is being planned and expected to boost the capacity to 30 metric tonnes
per annum upon completion. The plant presently consumes about 100 mmscm/d.
Initial gas feed for this plant was mainly from the non-associated gas stream,
and it is expected that the proportion of associated gas will increase and
eventually account for the entire supply. Between 1999 and 2012, the plant is
reckoned to have converted about 104 billion cubic meters of associated gas
which would have otherwise been flared.
