Global Law Experts is pleased to welcome the renewal of Manoj Vaghela’s membership as our Exclusive Member for Insurance in the United Kingdom. We are delighted to continue our relationship with Manoj, whose more than three decades of specialist litigation and (re)insurance experience continue to bring exceptional value to our international network. His renewed membership further enhances GLE’s ability to connect clients with senior, market-facing insurance litigators who blend city firm rigour with deep insurance market insight. Manoj’s expertise supports both corporate policyholders and insurers navigating cross-border and multi-jurisdictional challenges.
Manoj Vaghela is a senior insurance litigator who has held partnership roles at leading UK practices and managed high-value, cross-border disputes. Throughout his career he has operated at the interface of mainstream city litigation and the specialist insurance market, advising insurers, reinsurers and large corporate policyholders across sectors such as retail, hospitality, construction, energy and pharmaceuticals. His move to Wordley Partnership took effect on 1 May 2026, where he continues to lead contentious insurance mandates from a partner-led platform. This breadth underpins his capability to manage complex claims that span multiple jurisdictions and lines of business.
Manoj’s practice concentrates on contentious coverage and indemnity litigation, Bermuda Form and international arbitrations, directors’ & officers’ (D&O) liability disputes, professional indemnity, construction and energy disputes, product recall and trade credit claims. He has led teams on multi-jurisdictional matters requiring coordination across policyholders, insurers, reinsurers and expert witnesses. His experience includes acting for major corporate clients in landmark business interruption disputes arising from COVID-19, where issues of occurrence, aggregation and the interaction with government support were determinative. These engagements demonstrate his ability to translate complex policy constructs into practical litigation strategies.
Beyond client work, Manoj has taken on industry leadership roles that reflect his standing in the insurance law community. He was appointed Chair of the British Insurance Law Association (BILA) in December 2025, a role that underscores his technical expertise and commitment to developing UK insurance law and practitioner education. His media profile and contributions to practitioner events have positioned him as a recognised commentator on market-shaping issues. He was the Times’ Lawyer of the Week for his work on the Covid BI claims. His leadership has helped shape discussions on coverage, risk transfer and regulatory developments within the United Kingdom. He was appointed by the European Union as the sole lawyer working with a team of leading scientists and academics on the safety aspects of nanotechnology on Framework Programme 7.
Global Law Experts is proud to continue featuring Manoj Vaghela following the renewal of his exclusive membership. Our Exclusive Members are selected based on demonstrable experience, a track record of handling precedent-setting disputes and a reputation for practical, commercially informed advocacy. Manoj continues to exemplify these qualities through his longstanding experience in complex (re)insurance and international arbitration, as well as his leadership of multi-office, cross-border matters. He has been publicly identified as senior counsel on high-profile business interruption and management liability litigation. His transition to Wordley Partnership complements a platform that prioritises partner-led dispute resolution and (re)insurance work, making him an outstanding representative for GLE members and clients seeking senior UK insurance counsel.
Insurance law in the United Kingdom continues to be shaped by regulatory action, precedent-setting litigation and evolving product design. The COVID-19 business interruption litigation, including the FCA test case and subsequent disputes, clarified many issues around disease, prevention of access and trends clauses, but left complex factual and valuation questions to be determined in follow-on proceedings. The Supreme Court’s judgment in the FCA test case, delivered in 2021, remains a touchstone for policy construction and claims handling in post-pandemic BI disputes. Other live market pressures include aggregation and causation arguments in large-scale losses, the management of multi-party reinsurance recoveries and D&O exposures arising from corporate failures and regulatory investigations. These challenges demand advisers who can blend technical policy construction with cross-border procedural experience and commercial negotiation ability.
For businesses and individuals, the practical consequences of disputes under insurance contracts can be severe: interrupted cash flows, contested recoveries, protracted arbitration and court proceedings, and potentially significant unrecoverable losses. Determining coverage often requires granular analysis of policy wording definitions, aggregation provisions and sub-limits, factual causation, and whether exclusions apply. Early expert legal guidance helps preserve rights, shape strategy and improve prospects for settlement or success in litigation. This is especially true in cross-border or multi-party contexts where timing and coordination matter.
Manoj’s approach combines front-line court and arbitration advocacy with pragmatic commercial problem solving. He advises on policy interpretation, indemnity calculations, allocation and recovery strategies against insurers and reinsurers, and multi-jurisdictional dispute management. He blends the resources and discipline of city firm litigation with the specialist knowledge required for (re)insurance markets, which is valuable for corporate policyholders seeking to preserve business continuity and for insurers managing systemic exposures. This comprehensive approach supports clients facing complex coverage disputes across the United Kingdom and beyond.
Businesses and individuals should consider specialist insurance counsel when a claim is significant in value, relies on complex policy wording, involves multiple insurers or reinsurers, or raises cross-border or arbitration issues. Early specialist input frames the legal questions, assembles persuasive evidentiary support and helps avoid procedural pitfalls in multi-party litigation. Skilled counsel can also guide negotiation and alternative dispute resolution where appropriate, saving time and commercial cost. A proactive engagement also supports better governance and risk management.
Clients instructing Manoj and Wordley Partnership can expect a partner-led service focused on robust advocacy and commercial outcomes. The practice emphasises complex dispute resolution and (re)insurance expertise, with Manoj’s senior experience in Bermuda Form arbitrations, policy coverage disputes and management liability claims. This combination provides clients with strategic oversight and practical execution for high-stakes matters. The partnership’s approach supports corporate policyholders and insurers seeking reliable, efficient resolution.
Document and preserve contemporaneous loss records and communications with insurers, notify claims promptly and seek early legal review of policy wordings and loss quantification. For potential systemic or high-value issues, consider parallel risk management steps such as expert forensic accounting, early engagement with reinsurers or arbitration clauses. Choose advisers who blend technical insurance law knowledge with cross-border procedural experience to manage multi-party and multi-jurisdictional complexity. This approach helps protect rights and supports more predictable outcomes.
Global Law Experts is pleased to celebrate the renewal of Manoj Vaghela’s membership as our Exclusive Member for Insurance in the United Kingdom. His proven track record in precedent-setting business interruption disputes, leadership within the insurance law community and experience advising on complex (re)insurance matters continue to make him an invaluable member of our global network. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and supporting clients seeking senior UK insurance counsel with the technical insight, strategic leadership and commercial focus required to navigate today’s evolving insurance landscape.
